The Gold Coast Broadwater, which is also known as the Southport Broadwater, is an estuary of water that stretches from Southport to the southern part of Moreton Bay, which has been proclaimed as a World Heritage site. The Gold Coast Broadwater is flanked by Stradbroke Island to the north and the Spit to the south. The Broadwater is very large and contains lots of species of marine life. Gold Coast Ferries operates a number of services across the waterway.
The Gold Coast Broadwater boasts of a lovely waterfront promenade that can be found at its northern part at Biggera Waters going all the way south to Southport. The promenade is ideal for relaxing activities like cycling and strolling around due to its beautiful parks. There are lots of accommodation options along the waterfront with lovely views over the Broadwater.
The Gold Coast Broadwater provides a safe access to the Pacific Ocean through the Gold Coast Seaway. Because of its calm waters, the Broadwater is an ideal location for popular watersports and activities like boating, parasailing, windsurfing, kite surfing and jet-skiing.
Fishing is another popular activity in the Gold Coast. You can choose to fish from the shore, or you may opt to hire a small boat to explore the Broadwater area. If you’re up to it, you can also take part in a Broadwater or deep sea charter. Many of these depart from the Broadwater itself.
The Broadwaterway includes parklands and waterways located along the foreshores of the Gold Coast Broadwater.
